Affirming Black Families is a new program, supported by the LGBTQ Fund at the Baltimore Community Foundation, aimed at providing resources and education to Black families and caregivers of LGBTQIA+ youth.

Research shows that family rejection leads to severely negative mental and physical health outcomes for LGBTQIA+ youth. Few organizations are addressing the specific needs of Black families who are navigating affirming their LGBTQIA+ child's identity.

What began as an online group, has grown into a (soon-to-be released) podcast series and resource portal. Affirming Black Families was developed jointly by our executive director, Jabari Lyles, and Ti Malik Coleman, a local teaching artist, storyteller and facilitator.
